Cost problems for users. Environmental problems for everyone.
Today’s air compressors for use in trucks and buses (“Heavy Trucks” over 6 tons weight) require oil lubrication for the piston, which has a number of disadvantages:
High service costs for maintenance, repair and replacement of downstream components
High fuel costs, as the compressor cannot be switched off while idling
Severe environmental pollution due to thrown out oil
Up until now, the industry has failed due to the specification of the very compact space which is available for a brake compressor: dry-running compressors which fulfil the requirements for a final pressure of 12.5 bar and the required output volume would be far to large if conventional technology was used.
